I bring a varied and eclectic backgound to my career as a designer. I have graduate degrees in Anthropolgy from UCLA, which I taught on the college level. My interests in the areas of folk art and cultural history eventually led to my opening a successful antique store in Santa Monica, CA. From there, having begun to advise my clients on how to incorporate the treasures they acquired from me into their homes, in 1984 I established Dzign and turned my life long interest in design into my fulltime career.
Over the years since, I have had the good fortune to work with many wonderful clients, a good number of whom have been with me since I began. Dzign’s residential clients have included many of the notables in L.A.’s ultimate industry, the movie business, especially those at the executive level, i.e. the presidents of Fox Movies, Warner Bros. and Amblin, and in association with Alan Desk Company, Dzign created the original environment for Dreamworks Studios. There have been many other clients of longstanding from all the wide variety of L.A.’s diverse community, each a valued part of the network which has made Dzign a continuing successful enterprise for 25 years.
In addition, as a professional member of the L.A. design community, I have served as a founding member on the Board of the International Society of Interior Designers (later the International Interior Design Association) and on the Board of the California Legislative Council for Interior Design, responsible for the establishment of certification of interior designers in the State of California. I became one of the original designers in the state to satisfy the requirements of certification and am a certified interior designer in California.
